Dune: Awakening arrived on Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026, alongside a major update that adds a full single-player mode. The open-world survival game is also available on Xbox PC, cloud gaming and Game Pass, with Xbox Play Anywhere support and shared progression between console and PC. Set on Arrakis, the game asks players to gather resources, craft equipment, build a base and survive the desert while following a story about the disappearance of the Fremen. The console release also completes the first “Book One” storyline, so new players can play its narrative from the opening through the final chapter in one run. The new solo mode lets players choose among three difficulty presets or tune individual settings, including sandstorms, harvesting, experience gains, building limits and item durability. Xbox Wire says the launch update also allows the game’s content and rewards to be played entirely in PvE, so players can avoid PvP. The Landsraad endgame has been rebuilt around missions and ranks, with paths intended to work for solo and multiplayer play. On Xbox Series X|S, players can choose Performance mode (60 fps, dynamic 4K) or Quality mode (30 fps, dynamic 4K); Series X adds higher native resolution and enhanced visuals. That combination makes the console launch a substantial re-entry point for people who held off because the original PC version emphasized online survival and competition. Have you started on Xbox, and does the solo mode make Arrakis more inviting? Share your survival settings, base-building priorities and spoiler-free thoughts on the story.
