The agency stated that it observed TraderTraitor actors converting stolen assets into Ethereum and warned private entities to block transactions linked to these addresses to prevent further laundering of stolen funds. Binance said it had replenished 90% of the stolen assets using company funds. The remaining 10% consisted of less liquid tokens that could take longer to buy. Separately, it said withdrawals for additional assets and networks would be restored in phases as security checks were completed. In a paper published in *Nature Astronomy* on September 9, 2026, researchers reported 84 “hypersoft X-ray sources” across six galaxies, identified by re-examining observations in NASA’s Chandra archive. Typical X-ray binaries are detected mainly above 0.3 keV. These sources appeared primarily or exclusively below that threshold, with models suggesting that much of their energy emerges as extreme-ultraviolet light. That band is difficult to observe: hydrogen and helium gas absorb much of it, while the faint, very soft X-rays require long exposures. The team found the objects by looking for sources visible in Chandra’s lowest-energy images but absent at higher energies. Their identity is still uncertain. The authors propose that the category may include several kinds of accreting binary systems, involving white dwarfs, neutron stars, or black holes pulling material from companion stars. Some white-dwarf systems may be related to Type Ia supernova progenitors, and the sources’ ultraviolet output could help ionize gas in galaxies—but the study identifies possibilities, not confirmed progenitors or a demonstrated contribution to galactic ionization. The useful lesson is about astronomy’s blind spots: an object can be bright and still go unnoticed when its light falls in a difficult-to-measure part of the spectrum. Nintendo has designated November 1 as “Pikmin Day” and used its new Pikmin Direct to spotlight *Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy*. The Switch 2 edition launches November 12, while a free demo is due November 2. The demo includes the game’s opening area, Sun-Speckled Terrace, plus two Dandori Academy stages. In the new edition, players can use Switch 2’s built-in microphone to give Oatchi voice commands. Dandori Academy adds timed treasure-collecting challenges, with weekend exams offering one attempt after players practise. This is an enhanced edition of *Pikmin 4*, rather than a new mainline sequel. The demo arrives ten days before launch, giving Switch 2 owners a way to try the opening and the new challenge mode ahead of release. Nintendo says all four mainline Pikmin games can be played on both Switch and Switch 2. Poland’s confrontation over its Constitutional Tribunal escalated after the suspension of court president Bogdan Święczkowski on Friday. President Karol Nawrocki returned to Warsaw and convened political leaders on Saturday, but the talks had produced no breakthrough by that afternoon. The dispute concerns who can legitimately sit on the tribunal and whether the government’s effort to restore judicial independence is itself lawful. AFP reported that another judge, Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, announced Święczkowski’s suspension and said it was necessary to restore the rule of law. The government alleges that he repeatedly broke the law and endangered the tribunal’s functioning, according to the Associated Press. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has specifically accused him of preventing judges elected by the parliamentary majority from taking their seats. Those are the government’s allegations, rather than an agreed account of the suspension’s legality. The institution matters because it decides whether legislation and international agreements comply with Poland’s constitution. Articles 188 and 189 also give it responsibility for constitutional complaints and disputes over authority between central constitutional bodies. Article 190 describes its judgments as final and universally binding. The conflict therefore concerns the membership of a body with power to rule on the constitutional validity of legislation. The constitution distinguishes the selection of ordinary tribunal members from the appointment of its leadership. Under Article 194, the Sejm, parliament’s lower chamber, chooses 15 judges individually for nine-year terms, with no second term permitted. The national president appoints the tribunal’s president and vice-president from candidates proposed by its judges’ general assembly. Article 195 requires tribunal judges to be independent and subject only to the constitution. These provisions explain the institution’s structure; they do not resolve the disputed suspension. The political background predates this weekend. Law and Justice, known as PiS, governed from 2015 to 2023. Critics in Poland and the European Union accused it of bringing judicial institutions under political control, and its reforms led to EU fines, AP reported. Tusk took power in 2023 promising to restore judicial independence, but presidents aligned with PiS have blocked his reforms through vetoes. Nawrocki’s camp presents the latest intervention as an attack on constitutional order. He visited the tribunal on Saturday and said he helped Święczkowski enter the building. Fuzzing is often described as testing one input at a time, but in-process engines can call the target repeatedly inside the same process. That makes the harness part of the experiment: leftover caches, global counters, open files, or background threads can make one case affect the next. For a library you own or are explicitly authorized to test, keep the target narrow and make each iteration predictable: - Create per-input state and release it before returning. - Join worker threads and close or reset resources. - Avoid time- or randomness-driven behavior that does not come from the input. - Repeat a saved test case in a fresh run and after other corpus entries. If a crash appears only after a particular sequence, or coverage changes between identical inputs, investigate the harness and its reset logic before concluding the parser itself is inconsistent. Don’t “fix” instability by deleting inputs or suppressing crashes; retain the original reproducer and compare controlled runs. Some software is intentionally stateful, in which case the harness must model a valid sequence and reset only at the proper boundary. LLVM documents repeated in-process calls, deterministic behavior, speed, and global-state guidance for libFuzzer. AFL++’s persistent-mode guide explains that incomplete reset can cause false positives or waste fuzzing effort. Keep tests within your own local lab or explicit authorization. Some formats only reach interesting code after an input contains exact words or byte sequences. A coverage-guided fuzzer may spend a long time mutating random bytes that never pass those checks. A dictionary gives it a small vocabulary to try while it mutates inputs. ## Add only tokens your local parser expects For a parser you own or are explicitly authorized to test, suppose a toy record begins with `DEMO`, uses the field name `ITEM`, and ends with a newline. A libFuzzer dictionary could contain: ```text magic="DEMO" field="ITEM" "\x0A" ``` Pass it to a local libFuzzer build with `-dict=local.dict`. LLVM says dictionaries can contain input-language keywords or byte sequences such as multi-byte “magic” values; they can improve search speed for some formats. The example tokens are synthetic, not a real protocol or target. Keep the dictionary small and tied to the format you are testing. It helps mutations cross literal comparisons, but it does not make arbitrary inputs structurally valid or prove a vulnerability. Pair it with a varied seed corpus, bounded local runs, and sanitizers when supported. If the code still needs nested structures or checksums to reach deeper logic, a structured generator may be a better fit than adding more tokens. Christa Pike is on Tennessee's death row for the murder of Colleen Slemmer, a fellow student at the Job Corps Center in Knoxville. The killing occurred in January 1995, when Pike was 18. She was sentenced to death in March 1996, according to the Tennessee Department of Correction. Those are different dates: the year of the crime should not be confused with the year the death sentence was imposed. Her first public account of surviving a failed execution has brought the case back into the news. The [2019 federal appellate opinion](https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/ca6/16-5854/16-5854-2019-08-22.html) describes a strained relationship between Pike and Slemmer. It records Pike's allegation that Slemmer had been trying to take her boyfriend, Tadaryl Shipp. That is an allegation recounted by the court, rather than an independent account of Slemmer's intentions. On January 12, 1995, a witness saw Pike, Slemmer, Shipp and another student, Shadolla Peterson, leave the center together. The court recounts that Pike, Shipp and Peterson returned later without Slemmer. Its account describes an assault involving beating and cutting, and Pike subsequently telling another student she had killed her. The jury convicted Pike of premeditated first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The death sentence followed a separate sentencing hearing. Her case then went through years of litigation. In 2019, the Sixth Circuit affirmed the denial of a federal challenge concerning her lawyers' presentation of mitigating evidence during sentencing. That history explains why she remained imprisoned under a death sentence decades after the killing. The current development concerns Tennessee's attempt to execute her on September 30, 2026. ABC reports that Pike survived two doses of pentobarbital. She was taken to hospital, where she was initially unconscious and on a ventilator, before eventually returning to prison. In her first public statement since the attempt, she described waking up alone, confused and in pain. Her account concerns what she experienced; it does not, by itself, establish the technical cause of the failure. There is a documented hypothesis about how the procedure may have gone wrong. [ABC's report](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10-31/christa-pike-first-statement-constant-pain/107331034) says medical and lethal-injection experts have focused on the possibility that a problem with the intravenous line caused the drug to pool in her tissue rather than enter her bloodstream. This is a possible explanation under examination, not a confirmed finding about Pike's execution. The BBC reports that Tennessee's Department of Correction has not explained why the procedure failed, although it has defended the method it used. The physical consequences have continued beyond the execution chamber. Pike describes herself as being in constant pain. Her lawyers previously reported pneumonia, substantial swelling in her arms and difficulty swallowing, according to the BBC. ABC says her statement was dictated to her legal team from the infirmary at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center. These accounts describe serious reported effects, but they should not be turned into an unsupported diagnosis or a prediction about her recovery. The victim's family remains part of the story. Slemmer's mother, May Martinez, attended the attempted execution and later described it as a mess, the BBC reports. Governor Bill Lee ordered an independent review and paused the state's remaining executions for the year. Pike's lawyers are seeking to have her sentence reduced to life imprisonment. Lee has said he expects her sentence to remain the same unless the courts decide otherwise. The review's findings, the explanation for the failed procedure and the outcome of the legal effort to change her sentence therefore remain important unresolved questions. Las facturas, emitidas el 27 de noviembre de 2025 y el 23 de enero de 2026, detallan los honorarios por asesoramiento jurídico y procedimientos del exasesor ministerial. Leticia de la Hoz presentó estas facturas ante el juez Santiago Pedraz, quien investiga el caso Leire Díez, donde está imputada por supuestamente ofrecer dinero a Carmen Pano para cambiar su declaración sobre un supuesto pago de 90.000 euros al PSOE. La abogada busca demostrar que el PSOE no financió su defensa, sino que fue Okdiario quien cubrió los gastos. Los importes de las dos facturas antes de IVA fueron de 150.000 y 50.000 euros. Con impuestos, ascendieron a 181.500 y 60.500 euros, respectivamente. La primera factura está fechada el mismo día en que el Supremo envió a Koldo García y José Luis Ábalos a prisión provisional por el caso mascarillas. Los pagos son anteriores al inicio del juicio. El juez Pedraz solicitó estas facturas como parte de su investigación sobre una presunta trama para desestabilizar causas judiciales contra el PSOE o el Gobierno. De la Hoz alegó secreto profesional hasta ahora, pero presentó las facturas pormenorizadas tras la petición judicial. Aunque no se confirmó si el pago fue aceptado como prueba definitiva, el juez requirió que se aportaran los documentos y justificantes de transferencia. A telescope built to find planets around distant stars also captured a faint object far beyond Neptune—years before astronomers knew to look for it. In a preprint posted October 29, MIT researchers report finding the dwarf-planet candidate 2026 ED138 in five month-long sectors of NASA’s TESS archive, spanning 2019 to 2026. Four of those observing periods predate the candidate’s October 27 announcement by the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. TESS did not discover the object. Rubin first identified it in its 2026 survey data; earlier images from the Dark Energy Camera also helped extend its record back to 2016. The later TESS analysis is an example of “precovery”: once an object’s orbit is known, researchers can search older observations for traces of where it had already been. That search was difficult. ED138 is too faint to pick out in a single TESS frame, and the field is crowded: the team says each 21-arcsecond TESS pixel contains roughly 7 to 21 catalogued stars. They modeled and removed the background stars, suppressed the remaining static light, then shifted and stacked images along ED138’s predicted route. The combined signal reached 34 sigma. The eight TESS positions also agree with the JPL orbit, though they are much less precise than the measurements used to calculate it. The archive has extended the observational timeline, not settled what ED138 is. Its estimated diameter is still broad—about 600 to 1,500 kilometres—and infrared observations are needed to determine whether it is large enough to count as a dwarf planet. The precovery paper is currently an arXiv preprint, so its results have not yet completed peer review. The useful surprise is methodological: old survey images can become new evidence when a later discovery supplies the path to search. TESS’s archive was built for exoplanet work, but it also preserves a record of moving objects crossing its field of view. La líder del partido, Ada Colau, exigió transparencia y explicaciones tras el suceso. Esta petición se produce en un contexto de creciente presión política sobre el gobierno debido al impacto humano del incidente. El accidente, que dejó al menos 69 fallecidos, tuvo lugar el pasado 28 de octubre. Según informes publicados en medios como ABC.es, el ministro Puente comparecerá el martes de la semana que viene a partir de las 17:00 horas en la diputación permanente del Congreso. La decisión fue anunciada por fuentes parlamentarias, quienes indicaron que el ministro cursó él mismo la solicitud para explicar los hechos. Colau reclamó transparencia y explicaciones al ministro. A fuzzer’s crash file may contain far more data than the failure needs. Minimizing it means asking the fuzzer to remove pieces while checking whether the same failure still occurs. The result is easier to reproduce, inspect, and keep as a regression test; it is evidence about a bug, not an exploit. ## Shrink it without losing the evidence Work only with a crash from your own local test build or a target you are explicitly authorized to test. Keep the original file untouched. First replay it against the same binary and sanitizer configuration, and record the command, build version, and diagnostic. Then libFuzzer’s `-minimize_crash=1` mode can try to reduce the supplied crash input. Bound the work with `-runs=N` or `-max_total_time=N` so a local experiment has a clear limit. After minimization, replay the smaller file against that same build. Check that it still produces the same sanitizer class and relevant stack trace; if it does not, keep the original and investigate the difference. A minimizer preserves a failure condition it can observe, not necessarily the exact underlying cause. Build changes, platform differences, or nondeterminism can change the result. If the reduced case is stable, keep it with a short note about the environment and use it as a regression test after a fix. Don’t include secrets, customer data, or files from systems you don’t own. A compact reproducer helps a maintainer confirm the bug, but impact still needs its own evidence. A fuzzer can explore many inputs, but a crash is easier to interpret when the test build can explain what went wrong. Sanitizers add runtime checks to a program you compile for testing. They can turn some otherwise silent memory mistakes or undefined operations into a report with a location and a stack trace. ## Two useful checks in a local lab AddressSanitizer (ASan) is designed to catch memory errors such as out-of-bounds access and use-after-free. UndefinedBehaviorSanitizer (UBSan) checks selected operations such as signed integer overflow, invalid shifts, and misaligned or null-pointer use. They answer different questions, so one does not replace the other. Clang documents combining libFuzzer and ASan with `-fsanitize=fuzzer,address`; a local build can also use `-fsanitize=fuzzer,undefined` where that setup is supported. Use these only on code and test harnesses you own or are explicitly authorized to assess. When a sanitizer reports an issue, save the exact input, build configuration, and diagnostic; reproduce it against the same local build before drawing conclusions. The report identifies a class of faulty behavior, not automatically an exploitable vulnerability. Check the actual boundary and impact separately, using the evidence and limits from Part 5, and keep the exercise within the lab. Sanitizers also have limits: they detect the classes they instrument, and only when execution reaches the relevant behavior. A clean run is not proof that the program is bug-free. Treat each report as a precise lead to investigate—not a severity score—and preserve a minimized testcase as a regression test after the fix. Zelensky pledged that those who crossed would receive the help they needed and called on national, regional and local authorities to support their adjustment. Lubinets and his Russian counterpart, Yana Lantratova, travelled to Oleshky together on Friday as part of the operation. Some residents, including older people reluctant to leave, stayed behind despite the lack of basic services. Lantratova said she and Lubinets had agreed to continue humanitarian missions, Al Jazeera reported.
