A joint relief operation has begun in Oleshky, a Russian-held city in southern Ukraine, as part of a localized ceasefire. The first such operation in over four years, it aims to evacuate starving residents while delivering essential supplies. According to reports, around 2,000 people are remaining in the town, with some choosing to leave for Russia and others for Ukraine. The U.S. played a key role, brokered by First Lady Melania Trump, alongside efforts from the Ukrainian and Russian ombudsmen. However, fighting continued elsewhere, with Russia claiming downing over 1,043 Ukrainian drones overnight. Despite the positive developments, concerns remain about the safety and well-being of those evacuating.
