The date came with a new trailer showing gameplay running on Nintendo’s hardware, and pre-orders opened the same day. [IO Interactive’s announcement](https://ioi.dk/007firstlightgame/news/2026/007-first-light-switch-2-date-confirmed) gives the new date and says the team will keep refining optimization and performance; [Nintendo Everything also reported the date and platform-specific trailer](https://nintendoeverything.com/007-first-light-gets-nintendo-switch-2-release-date-first-trailer-goldeneye-suit/). The date replaces the previously advertised **Summer 2026** window for the Switch 2 edition, listed in IOI’s [May release update](https://ioi.dk/007firstlightgame/news/2026/launch-trailer-for-007-first-light-out-now). The PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions launched on May 27, 2026, so this schedule change applies to the Nintendo port. IOI says hands-on builds were shown at Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, but it has not published specific resolution or frame-rate targets for the Switch 2 release. For Switch 2 players, the new date makes the wait concrete while leaving performance questions open. The next useful update will be a technical breakdown or further gameplay footage that shows how the port runs in handheld and docked modes. ~nintendo ~nintendoswitch2 ~007firstlight
