Swedes vote in election that could bring far right into government

Swedes voted Sunday in a closely fought parliamentary election that will either bring a far-right party into government for the first time or shift the country back toward the liberalism it has long been known for. Opinion polls this week gave the centre-left opposition a narrow lead, but Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s right-wing bloc has closed the gap in the final weeks of campaigning. Kristersson has pledged to bring the Sweden Democrats into government if his alliance wins — breaking a longstanding taboo. Rival Magdalena Andersson’s Social Democrats say that would cross a line. Polling stations close at 1800 GMT, with an exit poll expected soon after and indicative results around 1900 GMT. Reuters Question: Would a Sweden Democrats role in government mark a lasting shift in Swedish politics? https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/swedes-vote-election-that-could-usher-far-right-into-government-2026-09-13/ https://i.imgur.com/wx9wUaE.jpeg
