At least 18 people were killed when ballistic missiles struck the Al-Alam military camp in Yemen’s Shabwa governorate on Monday morning, October 19, during training for newly recruited government-aligned forces. The casualty toll is still disputed: [Reuters](https://www.internazionale.it/ultime-notizie-reuters/2026/10/19/at-least-18-killed-in-houthi-attack-on-yemeni-government-military-camp-in-shabwa-sources-say), citing four government and medical sources, reported at least 18 dead; the [Associated Press](https://apnews.com/article/yemen-houthis-saudi-fighting-2026-10-19) cited Yemeni military officials who put the toll at 20 and said at least two dozen were wounded; [EFE](https://efe.com/mundo/2026-10-19/ataque-soldados-progubernamentales-yemen/) cited military sources reporting at least 30 dead and dozens injured. The reports have not been independently reconciled. Yemen’s military spokesman told AP that three ballistic missiles were fired at a training center. The Houthi-run SABA agency also reported an attack that killed and wounded dozens, without publishing a detailed count. AP says the dead were new recruits; EFE reports that the target was a 700-person battalion during its morning roll call. The camp is in Jardan district, north of Ataq, on a route toward government-held Marib and key supply lines, AP reports. The strike comes as fighting between the Houthis and Saudi-backed government forces intensifies and the government pursues a campaign to retake territory. AP says the escalation has broken the 2022 ceasefire that largely halted Yemen’s civil war. Presidential Leadership Council head Rashad al-Alimi promised a “firm response,” according to AP, but no details or timing were reported. The final death toll, number of wounded and extent of damage remain unclear. This is a separate incident from the missile attack on the government complex in Aden covered in [Mushimu’s earlier report](https://www.mushimu.com/post/9000). ~worldnews ~yemen ~missile
