Philadelphia officer killed, another wounded; suspect charged

Philadelphia police Officer Shane Seiber, 40, died after being shot while responding to a report of an armed man in West Philadelphia early Saturday, Oct. 10. A second officer was shot 12 times and was reported in stable condition, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said. District Attorney Larry Krasner said 35-year-old Eric Lewis has been charged with homicide in Seiber’s death and other offenses, including attempted homicide connected to the surviving officer. The charges are allegations; the case will be decided in court.
